Active Ingredients

  • Vitamin B3 (5%) (Niacinamide) - One of the most well-studied active ingredients in skincare, niacinamide has strong evidence for many skin conditions - from acne to wrinkles and even pigmentation. A true powerhouse ingredient that is helpful in minimising pores and supporting your skin’s natural barrier to help retain moisture.

  • Urea - A ‘water-loving’ ingredient, urea is a NMF produced naturally by the skin and helps keep skin plump and moist when applied topically. It draws moisture from the environment while also acting to soften the texture of skin. When combined with lactic acid, urea works as a mild exfoliator and helps reinforce the barrier by upregulating filaggrin.

  • Essential free fatty acids (evening primrose oil-derived) - Another component of the NMF, essential free fatty acids (EFFAs) are crucial to skin function and appearance, with research showing topical EFFAs can have profound effects on the fatty acid composition of the skin. Those with chronically dry, flaky skin may stand to benefit most from EFFAs.

  • Alpha Lipoic Acid (2%; ALA) - ALA is an antioxidant made within the powerhouses of every cell in the body as a protector of free radical damage . There is clear scientific evidence promoting its use in skincare with one study showing as little as 0.5% to be effective in delivering antioxidants into the skin and others demonstrating effectiveness in eliminating fine lines around eyes and upper lips of most participants.

  • Provitamin B5 (1%) (D-Panthenol) - An excellent moisturiser with proven wound healing effects and as a result, often described as 'soothing'.

  • Ferulic acid - Ferulic acid is for the long game. A powerful antioxidant capable of preventing cell damage from free radicals, slows the formation of fine lines and wrinkles and thus slows the visible signs of ageing. May also assists with evening skin tones by protecting from UVA/UVB free radical damage.

  • Trehalose - A naturally occuring disaccharide (sugar molecule) found in many plants and insects, this sugar molecule has an extremely high water retention capability which protects these organisms from extreme dry conditions. It's ability to retain and attract moisture renders trehalose ideal for hydrating the skin.

  • Sodium hyaluronate - Hyaluronic acid is a natural moisturising substance in our skin and assists with skin hydration when in combination with other NMFs.

  • Lactic acid - Lactic acid is an exfoliating alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that gently sheds of dead skin cells to help soften and smooth your skin and improve its overall texture.

  • Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) - The most abundant and powerful catcehin antioxidant in green tea and responsible for many of its health benefits. Due to its potent antioxidant capabilities, EGCG is considered an excellent player in the long game of skin health - alongside ferulic acid.
